Multi-format tipper
Discharging of drained automative filters
Our client specializes in the collection and treatment of industrial wastes.
The installation, carried out by PALAMATIC PROCESS, is designed to empty the various oil filter recovery drums from automobile services. The old method was for operators to unload these drums manually. The customer contacted us to automate and improve the ergonomics of the workstation and reduce operator intervention of this task.
The installation had to meet the following requirements:
- Rate: 40 barrels/hr
- Multi-format support: pallet of 4 metal drums 220L, GRV 1000L, plastic containers 600 and plastic containers 900.
- Maximum load: 500 kg
- Only operator intervention via forklift
- Robust design
- Secure system
The drums are emptied via an automatic heavy load tipper, which consists of a support tray sized to accommodate each container (pallet format).
Two clamping bars, actuated by a hydraulic cylinder, secure the container to maintain the drums during the tilting phase.
The assembly is driven by an electric gear motor and plummer block bearings. Position sensors control the angle of the drum tipping mechanism.
In order to redirect the residual oils from the containers after tilting, the tank comes to rest on a fixed unloading chute.
The entire installation is secured by a safety enclosure and light curtain which prevents access to the unloading area.
The forklift operator controls the installation via a simple control box mounted on a jib crane in the drop zone. This control method allows the operator to stay in the forklift while controlling the drum tipping equipment.
The 160 ° rotation of the device allows the complete emptying of the containers. Furthermore, the clamping device has been designed to be adaptable to various containers without risk of damage.
