Dense phase vacuum pneumatic conveying of powder can be designated in various ways: powder pump, pneumatic conveyor, powder conveyor, pneumatic conveying, vacuum conveying, vacuum conveyor, powder conveyor... It is used for pneumatic conveying of powders, granules, bulk materials, raw products...
The bulk materials dense phase pneumatic conveying has many advantages compared to the principles of diluted phase pneumatic conveying or vacuum pneumatic conveying. Indeed, it does not produce attrition or de-mixing of the loaded powders or bulk materials. Also, the dense phase pneumatic conveying of powder makes it possible to work in total containment and is not energy consuming.
The operating principle is simple: the bulk materials are extracted via a vacuum pump (electric or pneumatic) to an infeed cyclone (cyclo-filter) with tangential (cylindrical) inlet.
The bulk material is discharged from the system via receiving filters or cyclonic separators that separate the material from the air directly above the hoppers, storage tanks or other system in the industrial production line.
The main functions of this pneumatic conveying are bulk materials conveying, dosing and weighing of the conveyed powder. The most common installations concern the vacuuming of powders, granules or bulk materials from sacks, big bags, storage containers, silos, packing lines, manual bag dump stations, big bag loader, buffer hopper, storage hopper...
Pneumatic vacuum conveying systems are generally used to convey powders and bulk materials from several entry points, such as storage tanks, big bags, trucks to one or more production equipment in the packing line. Unlike pressure pneumatic conveying systems, vacuum conveyors also have the advantage of easily removing powder or granules from open-top containers or big bags using suction canes.
The dense phase pressure pneumatic conveyor is used to convey powders, bulk materials and raw ingredients to one or more production equipment over long distances while offering a greater throughput than vacuum pneumatic conveying systems. The installation of a rotary airlock valve is not necessary.
These pneumatic powder conveying systems generate a movement of the powder by pressure, with one or more material inlets. These bulk materials are then transported on the conveying lines via a rotary airlock valve. The conveyed powders and air are pushed through the conveying line to be evacuated through one or more points of operation. The conveyed powders will then be separated from the conveying air by the use of a receiving filter or a cyclonic separator.
The dilute phase pressure pneumatic conveyor is designed for installations with multiple collection and discharge points. It transports powders or bulk materials that are suspended in the air. These bulk products are separated from the conveying air at the point of use and then drained by means of slide valves, butterfly valves and rotary airlock valves. Also known as a conveying airlocks, phased pneumaticconveying systems transport powders at high pressure and low speed for the conveying of abrasive and easily degradable products.
