Maltodextrine Palamatic

1. Main characteristics of maltodextrin

Maltodextrin, or malto-oligosaccharides, results from the hydrolysis of a starch (corn, wheat, peas, or potato). It is made up of various sugars such as glucose and maltose, in various proportions depending on the degree of hydrolysis.

It takes on the appearance of a white powder, but does not have a sweet taste or odor.

2. Main applications of maltodextrin

Maltodextrin powder is used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. It improves solubility, texture, flavor, and shelf life. It is mainly used as a food additive, food flavor carrier, bulking agent or excipient.

It is found in everyday food products such as soups, sauces, confectionery, dairy products, energy drinks, as well as in certain medicines.

3. Industrial handling of maltodextrin

The flowability of maltodextrin varies greatly depending on its initial properties, hence the importance of performing tests in a powder lab to find out this parameter.

The maltodextrin powder should be stored in a cool place, protected from light. It can be stored in polypropylene containers.

4. Applications of maltodextrin with Palamatic Process equipment

Maltodextrin can undergo different industrial processes depending on its hydrolysis content: spray drying, conditioning, deconditioning, mixing of ingredients, transfer, filtration or storage.

For emptying sacks or bulk bags of maltodextrin, the Sacktip® S deconditioning station can be accompanied by a bag lifter to improve ergonomics and ease handling for the operator.

The transfer of your maltodextrin powder can be done using a tubular screw conveyor feeding a dense phase pneumatic transport system, like the Palamatic Process VFlow® model. This solution makes it possible to protect the filter against any rising steam during reactor loading and prevent any loss of product.

Palamatic Process has developed a turnkey process line (DairyBagging®) for the packaging of products leaving the atomization tower, in order to have continuous powder production.

5. Customer applications Palamatic Process with maltodextrin

For more than 30 years, Palamatic Process has supported manufacturers in handling maltodextrin powder. Several production lines dealing with maltodextrin are in use, such as:
