Big bag filling with ashes

Processed products: fly ashes and ash embers

Refiom processing line

The client is a household waste incineration plant.

The objective is the conditioning of the ashes in big bags for landfilling. These ashes are also called refiom: residues of purification of the flue gases of household waste incineration.

A big bag filling station FlowMatic® 02 is installed. The filling rate is 2 big bags/h.

The station integrates an intermediate buffer hopper for storage before packaging. This hopper ensures a sufficiently long storage time minimizing the risk of incandescent ashes being sent into the big bag. This option allows the plant operator to use standard big bags at economic costs. The rotary valve under the buffer hopper operates the dosing into the filling system.

The dosing of the big bag is controlled by a microwave sensor. The choice of this technology with regards to the weigh cells is a choice related to reliability because the installation environment is extremely severe. The microwave sensor technology for big bag level control is non-contact and therefore without risk of breakage or overload, unlike the weigh cells. As on each Palamatic Process big bag packaging systems, an inflation fan allows the big bag to be shaped due to the low density of the ashes. This low product density led the Palamatic Process design office to integrate a vibrating table allowing the densification of fly ashes.
The abrasive nature of the product (fly ash = pure silica) imposed a robust design and sheet thickness as well as specific coatings.
These big bags thus conditioned being intended for landfilling, the operator therefore does not use handling pallets. As a result, the station integrates "U" forks enabling the big bag to be removed by the handles (straps). Similarly, a central hook is available for the packaging of single-handle big bags.
