Workshop for the treatment of insect larvae

Treated products: Frass, dead insects, live insects

Entomoculture treatment unit

- FRASS TREATMENT WORKSHOP -

At the end of the insect rearing phase, a residue known as frass can be collected for further processing. Frass is the end result of the larvae consuming a food mixture and consists of a mix of left overs, droppings and insect molt, in the form of a dry residue. The frass can also contain a small amount of living insects that are able to pass through sorting system. Once "secure", the product is evacuated to skips.

The FRASS is brought to the processing workshop by the pneumatic vacuum transfer from the sorting workshop. The PI 150 rotary sluice at the outlet of the VFlow® 03 cyclone allows the controlled extraction and feeding of the vibrating screen. The vibrating screen is a safety check on the downstream process, catching foreign bodies such as bolts, screws, nuts, etc. to be rejected.

A flexible sleeve allows the outlet of the lock and the inlet of the GSC600 vibrating screen to be connected in a perfectly sealed manner.
After passing the sieve, the product is introduced into the customer's insect pest, which provides the securing of the material to ensure that all insects are dead.

At the exit of the insecticide, a tubular transfer screw mechanically transfers the product to the storage bins.
The line flow rate is 1000 kg / hr at an apparent density of 0.4.

The assembly is ATEX 20/22 certified.
