Description
Drum tipper - Drum discharging system - DrumFlow® 04
The drum tipper allows a completely confined emptying by capping and tight connection. This equipment is suitable for the handling of chemicals.
A mechanized roller conveyor transfers the drum onto the unloading station, where positioning stops are integrated. The operator can start the tipping cycle once the drum is securely in position. The capping cycle consists of lowering the docking cone over the top of the drum. The drum is then clamped between the tray and the docking cone. Security bars internally attached to the cone prevent the inner liner from turning over during tipping.
The tipping cycle then rotates the whole drum + docking cone with drain chute. This tipping mechanism is driven by the secondary cylinder. The whole tipping assembly then comes into contact with the rubber stops provided for this purpose.
The outlet of the drain chute is completely vertical at the end of tilting cycle as it enters a socket joint, located on the powder inlet of the hopper. Once emptied, the tipping assembly returns to its starting position. A push cylinder allows the drum to be transferred to the motorized conveyor.
The entire drum tipper can be installed inside a safety enclosure, which can prevent the start of the tipping cycle if an access door to the enclosure is open. This enclosure cabin also optimizes the dust containment of the unloading station. It is also possible to install a glove box to allow the opening of the drums without entering the cabin.

Technical specification
Examples of results obtained:
Rate | 1 drum / 4-5 min |
---|---|
Capacity | 550 lbs per drum |
Manufacturing materials | Painted steel/stainless steel structure |
Inclination | Up to 180° |
Tilting of the drum | Electric motor 7,5 kW |
Drum capping | Pneumatic cylinder with overpressure leak test |
Connection to the drain | By low pressure inflatable seal |
Butterfly drain valve | DN150 |
Flow aid | Fluidizer on drain cone, vibrator on cone and drum bottom |
Operation cycle:
Step 1: Positioning of the drum on the roller conveyor and tipping cradle
Step 2: Capping of the drum by mounting and clamping on the cradle and the containment cone. Internal forks inside the docking cone prevent the reversal of the inner liner.
Step 3: Tipping of the drum
Step 4: Connection of the docking cone discharge chute to collection hopper by inflatable seal and butterfly isolation valves.
