Spice blending process 

Context

SpiceMix, a manufacturer of spice blends, was looking to optimize its production process by automating the dosing and mixing of its different ingredients. The company wanted to improve the precision of dosing, traceability of ingredients and the overall productivity of its production process. SpiceMix therefore decided to equip itself with 4 DosingMatic® Master modules from Palamatic Process to meet these requirements, i.e. 16 automatic dosing heads.

Solution

The DosingMatic® Master has been integrated into the SpiceMix production process to automate the precise dosing of the different ingredients and powders used in the manufacture of their spice blends. The solution includes four modules of four screw feeders to ensure simultaneous and precise dosing of ingredients, as well as 16 motorized weighing conveyors to transfer the dose collection containers under each doser. The containers used for collecting dosages are buckets of different formats. 

Results

Implementing the DosingMatic® Master allowed SpiceMix to achieve the following results:

1. Improved dosing accuracy: thanks to the integrated weighing system and screw dosers, the dosing accuracy of ingredients has been significantly improved, thereby reducing raw material losses and ensuring consistent quality of spice blends.
    
2. Increased Productivity: the DosingMatic® Master allowed SpiceMix to automate its dosing process, reducing the time spent on this production step and increasing the company's overall productivity. The operator assigned to dosing has become a line driver to ensure the supply of ingredients and buckets.
    
3. Traceability of ingredients: the integrated control system of the DosingMatic® Master, the Pal’Touch® solution, allows optimal management of the dosing process and ensures complete traceability of the ingredients dosed. SpiceMix can thus guarantee its customers the quality and conformity of its spice mixtures with automatic printing of each recipe/batch.
    
4. Flexibility and adaptability: the modularity of the DosingMatic® Master allowed SpiceMix to adapt it to their specific needs, thus offering a tailor-made solution for their production process.

The integration of the DosingMatic® Master into the SpiceMix production process has significantly improved dosing accuracy, ingredient traceability and overall company productivity.
