Talc

Talc, also known under the names of colubrin, kerolite, agalite, agalmatolite, ollite, steatite or even lardite, is a mineral composed of magnesium silicate containing traces of aluminum, calcium, sodium, iron and nickel.
alc has good resistance to corrosion and outdoor elements.
It can replace titanium dioxide in some industries.

Talc is a white powder that turns slightly green and has a density equal to 2.7 g · cm-33 g / cm³. Talc is also soluble in water.

Talc is used in many areas as:

• Excipient and lubricant for the pharmaceutical industry by its neutral and inert nature
• Anti-caking agent for dyes in the food sector
• Absorbent material, soft to the touch and hydrophobic in cosmetics
• Production of paper to improve its impermeability
• Reinforcing filler for the rubber industry where it improves material flow and increases impermeability
• Functional, opacifying and covering charge in paints
• Agent improving the mechanical properties of reinforced polymers in plastics
• Flocculant in water treatment
• Vehicle weight reduction in the automotive industry
• UV protector in the agricultural environment
• Anti-clumping and lubricant for fertilizers and animal feed
   

Potentially carcinogenic, talcum powder should be handled with care. Depending on the type of talc, the flow characteristics can range from good to poor. The more humid it tends to be, the more delicate it will be to handle.

In general, talc is handled for storage operations in silos, grinding, micronizing and packaging in sacks and bulk bags.
