Our customer, a key player in the production of copper foil for electric vehicle batteries, is faced with stringent quality and precision requirements.
These copper foils, which are essential for battery operation, must offer optimum electrical conductivity and a perfectly coherent structure. They serve as a support for the anode slurry, acting as a negative collector in the battery. The performance of each foil has a direct and significant impact on the overall efficiency of the battery.

THE CRUCIAL ROLE OF POWDERS IN THE PROCESS

The manufacturing process requires special attention to two powder compounds: carbon black and diatomaceous earth.
Each provides specific benefits essential to the production of high-quality copper foil:

  • Carbon black: this component significantly improves the electrical conductivity of the electrode, facilitating electron transportation. It also plays a crucial role in the structure and cohesion of the electrode, essential for maintaining the integrity of the battery through charge and discharge cycles.
     
  • Diatomaceous earth: with its unique porous structure, it is used to filter out impurities, ensuring the purity of the copper solution. Its absorption capacity eliminates contaminants that could alter copper conductivity, while its clarification function ensures uniform application of copper to the foil.
